Project Q
Project Q will be a project that I will embark on every 3 months. Every March, June, September and December, I will be blogging about my quarterly project, along with Youtube videos so that you can join me on the journey. If you have any ideas of requests for my quarterly projects, I would be happy to hear them, just drop me an email!
Q1: Mass making cards
You know when you need to make a lot of cards, for farewell or for an event to thank everyone on your team, you want to make something special, something aesthetic but something budget. As I prepare to leave my job to go back to school, I want to make farewell cards for my colleagues. I want to make simple, elegant and special cards for them. Let me show you my idea:
Skeleton:
A rough sketch of my idea. For more details, scroll down more :)
Cover page
(Paste origami in purple box)
Inside
(Paste a piece of watercolored paper in the purple box and write a message.)
1. Butterfly
Level of difficulty: Easy
This design is the most elegant one of them all. The butterfly card is suitable for people whom have been a role-model for you. I chose to give this card to someone whom I look up to, wishing her a beautiful and successful career ahead.
2. Cat
Level of difficulty: Difficult (but doable, don't worry, just try!)
I think that this design is very classy. The cat card is the perfect fit for those who live their life with class. You can define 'class' :)
3. Fish
Level of difficulty: Easy
This design is one of the easiest. The fish card is suitable for those who are bubbly and cheerful. They are the ones who pay little attention to minor details and wears a smile on their faces all the time.
4. Flapping bird
Level of difficulty: Intermediate
This design is what I consider interactive, because one of the wing is left to flap (i.e. not glued down). The Flapping bird card is great for those whom you trust a lot, people who have been like a mentor and friend to you. I chose to give this card to someone whom I will affectionately call my mentor, wishing her a life lived according to her heart.
5. Fox
Level of difficulty: Easy
This design is another interactive one, because the fox's tail is 'popping out' (i.e. not glued down). The Fox card is suitable for people whom have made your journey a bit bumpy but you still wish to thank him / her regardless, for being a part of your learning journey.
6. Leaf
Level of difficulty: Intermediate
This design is another elegant one. The Leaf card is perfect for those who have stayed by your side and gave you emotional support during your journey, especially those who are more senior in age. I chose to give this card to a special someone who has comforted me whenever I needed it and she is my first old-friend :)
7. Rabbit
Level of difficulty: Easy
The Rabbit card is suitable for people whom you have joked around with and have fun with. I chose to give this card to 2 of my co-workers who have similar sense of humor with me, and have bonded a lot over those laughs.
8. Shoes
Level of difficulty: Difficult
I had the hardest time folding this origami. The Shoes card is suitable for people whom you have a love-hate relationship with. At times, you feel like they are looking out for you and guiding you along, but sometimes, you feel like they are being unreasonable.
9. Flat bird
Level of difficulty: Intermediate
This Flat bird card is great for those who you have had a heart-felt connection with. Your relationship with them is stable, just like how the bird is completely flat on the card. I chose to give this card to people whom I have shared deep conversations with.
I hope that this blog post has given you some ideas about cards you can make and made your journey much easier and fun-filled! Thank you!
